New patented pressure roller with imbedded air chamber system
With its imbedded air chamber system, the pressure roller equalises the surface pressure without excessively increasing the web tension. It is used in slitting machines as a contact roller, to more effectively control the problems of variable profile, conical wrapped, or unevenly wound products. It has also proved to be a solution when a 'wide nip' is required, for example, on rollers for splicing operations or guide rollers. Before the introduction of this new pressure roller, a larger nip was usually achieved by increasing the roll diameter and reducing the rubber hardness. This can cause problems for machine builders and end users as the mechanical properties of the soft rubber coating, not being the optimum, has a negative effect of the life of the roller. Furthermore, the requirement for large rollers increases the investment costs, major modifications may need to be made to the machine, and it may not be possible to fit such large rollers due to the construction of particular machines. Another
winning feature of the pressure rollers is that they can be manufactured
with a number of different elastomers according to specific processes
and conditions. Lüraflex supplies rollers with coverings including
anti-stick, high temperature resistant, non-wearing and covers which are
electrically conductive. |
